TAOIST MEDITATION

How to start.-
Meditation is being in the present moment, doing nothing and being aware of life going through us.

  1. Search for a quiet place, with natural light and fresh air if possible.
  2. Choose a comfortable position. Sit on the floor over a cushion or on a chair or lay down on the floor. You want to be comfortable, but not so comfortable you fall asleep.
  3. For 5 minutes, move through the following process steps (beginning with #4 and ending with #9)
  4. Listen to your breath without trying to control it.
  5. For as long as 7 breaths notice which part of your trunk expands as you inhale. Beware of the air coming in and out and the pauses in between. Do not try to control it.
  6. Place the palm of your hand on the part of your trunk that expands when you breathe in. During 10 breaths perceive the movement in your hand as you inhale and exhale. Afterwards, rest both hands on your lap and begin the process again with step #5.
  7. If at any moment thoughts begin to take over, don’t worry, it’s normal. Be kind and bid farewell to your thoughts. Come back to the present moment listening again to your breath.
  8. You can also come back to the present, feeling the contact your body makes with surfaces such as the floor, the chair or the cushion, or come back to the present by being aware of the five senses.
  9. When you settle into this meditation, focus your intention in your breath, so that when you breathe in you nourish your health and let the light come in. When you breathe out you let go of all that doesn’t serve you and the Universe.

Try this meditation for 5 days. The meditation can last from 5 to 25 minutes. And does it just sitting, being there, doing nothing.
